In August of 2024, Balestrieri Environmental & Development took on a meaningful project at the heart of Baraboo, Wisconsin — the de-leading of the iconic Baraboo Clock Tower. A symbol of pride and tradition, the clock tower stands as a centerpiece for the town and serves as a gathering point for many of its downtown events.

The team at Balestrieri used a safe and strategic method to remove hazardous lead from the structure. A specialized de-leading solution was applied and allowed to dwell on the lead-coated surfaces, effectively breaking down the lead contaminants. Once the solution had penetrated the layers, the team carefully wiped and removed the residue, leaving behind a clean and restored surface.

This project was more than just a standard remediation job — it was about preserving a piece of Baraboo’s history. During a recent visit to the town, Balestrieri’s President and Vice President spoke with residents who fondly remembered the work being done. Many expressed their appreciation, sharing how they love seeing the clock tower shining in its new light whenever they visit downtown.
