Balestrieri Environmental & Development, Inc. was contracted to remove a section of concrete flooring in the Air Traffic Control Tower at the Janesville Airport (KJVL). The existing concrete pad was impacted with lead-containing paint that required removal due to planned utility relocation. Our team mobilized promptly to safely abate the lead-containing materials and restore the affected area.
A full containment system was carefully assembled to isolate the work area and prevent contamination of surrounding spaces during removal activities. Prior to demolition, our crew conducted utility scanning beneath the concrete slab to ensure all underlying utilities were identified and protected. Once the impacted concrete was removed, new concrete was poured to restore the flooring to operational standards.
To wrap up the project, our team completed the final cleaning of the room and performed a wipe test on all surfaces to ensure no lead dust remains. Final air clearance was taken at the end of the project to ensure a safe workspace. All the final precautions are essential and leave the client with peace of mind.
