1410 Engineering Drive

Location: 1410 Engineering Dr., Madison, WI 53706

Project Manager: Justin Zoellner

Field Manager: Rafael Villegas

In 2024, the University of Wisconsin–Madison College of Engineering took a pivotal step in modernizing its campus by initiating the demolition of the 1410 Engineering Drive Building—one of the university’s oldest structures. After 85 years of serving generations of engineering students and faculty, the building is now making way for a new era—designed to meet the needs of tomorrow’s engineers. In its place, a cutting-edge, seven-story facility will rise, designed to support next-generation research, innovation, and education.

Balestrieri Environmental & Development was brought on board to perform the asbestos abatement and selective interior demolition throughout the building required ahead of the full teardown. Our team worked closely with general contractors and university stakeholders to ensure the safe, efficient, and regulation-compliant removal of hazardous materials from the aging infrastructure.

Balestrieri is proud to contribute to a legacy project that supports the future of engineering education in Wisconsin and the engineering industry, an industry that Balestrieri works closely with. As we clear the path for progress, we remain committed to safety, environmental stewardship, and seamless project execution.
