Project Summary

The former Posner Building was originally a department store. Previously, it was known as the Caswell Building, and even a speakeasy dating back to the 1920’s. The redevelopment project sought to convert the historic building into unique apartments with retail space below.

Once knows as the Caswell Building and even a speakeasy back in the 1920s, the Posner Building was originally a department store. The building was a vision ahead of its time, with the street level stores. But as time went by and the buildings use changed, the majority of the building sat vacant and neglected for many years.

Understanding the vision to revitalize the space, Balestrieri was chosen to remove asbestos containing materials, as well as provide turn-key environmental and interior demolition services.

The MKE Lofts, formerly known as the Posner Building, were recently awarded an honorable mention for Best Renovation – Residential Project by the Milwaukee Business Journal.
