At Balestrieri, protection of human health and the environment is our number one priority. We are committed to the safety of our employees, the employees of others on the job site, and the general public.
Field Safety Manager Steve Jandrowski
Our safety program is overseen by Field Safety Manager Steve Jandrowski. Mr. Jandrowski is responsible for on-site project safety audits and employee in-house training. He is also OSHA certified in the OSHA 500 60-Hour Trainer Course for Construction. Mr. Jandrowski was invited to join the Milwaukee Construction Industry Safety Council’s (MCISC) Construction Safety Leadership Forum, sponsored in part by the AGC of Greater Milwaukee. This group, which meets eight times per year, is made up of lead individuals responsible for their companies’ construction safety programs. The purpose of the group is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and to provide education and materials for those responsible for developing and administering safety programs in construction.
Safety Program and Training
The first quarter of each year is heavily focused on safety programs and employee training. Our entire field staff participates in a comprehensive medical surveillance plan to ensure that they are healthy and physically fit to meet the demanding needs of their day-to-day jobs.
In addition to medical surveillance, all field staff personnel go through extensive safety training to verify that they are familiar with proper industry safety measures and procedures to help keep job sites safe and accident-free. Our annual spring training program includes:
- A thorough review of our company Safety & Health program
- OSHA 10-Hour Construction safety training for all new employees
- Refresher courses for HazComm
- Hazwoper training
- Heavy metals and hazardous materials safe handling review
- Defensive driving skills refresher course
- Fleet Safety Manual review
Because worker safety and protection is a top priority for Balestrieri Environmental & Development, all of our employees are trained and encouraged to follow company safety policies, procedures, and practices designed to protect them from, and help them proactively recognize job-related safety and health hazards. Our safety and training program includes provisions for the systematic identification, evaluation, prevention, and control of general workplace hazards, specific job hazards, and potential hazards that may arise from unforeseen circumstances. You can’t prepare for every eventuality, but our employees have the proper training, equipment, physical prowess, and proactive mindset to deal calmly and professionally in every situation.
From rigorous record keeping and documentation, to ongoing training, to the strict adherence to Federal, State, and Local regulations for safety and job site management -- we are 100% committed to worker, job site, and environmental safety and protection.
